3. You now need to gather some research into the three industries that you may be interested in pursuing after college.

You will need to produce information on the following subjects and print it for your folder (industry section)

i.e. Film (runner) to Film (Camera Person) to Film (Producer) to Film (Director)

I have been looking on http://www.skillset.org/ and found some subjects within the Television section that i would be intrestedin pursuing as a careere.

· What type of skills would you need, to apply for a job in each of your chosen industries?

When employers are asked why they hire the same people again and again, they often respond, "They're good at their job and they're good to work with". The creative media industries value strong communication skills and the ability to think creatively. However, the ability to work well under pressure and to firm deadlines is also crucial. If you enjoy working in a dynamic workplace, and can think on your feet, you're probably well suited to working in this highly rewarding sector. However, these skills alone won't be enough. A strong understanding of the industries will give you the edge over other applicants and help you develop the skills you need for the job you want.

· Can you find a job or some work experience that is related to your industry of choice? (print a copy for your folder)

I have been looking for work in the related area and have found the below:

  • Make-up Artist with HD Experian
  • Production Designer: Crew Call

  • Special Effects Make-up Person

  • Key Make-up Artist

4. Write up your notes into three mini reports (min 150 words). Each report should contain details of the following.

· Historical Origins and developments within the industry

British television started in the 1936 only looking to broadcast to London. During World War II the BBC television was closed, it re-opened after the war in 1946. The BBC then introduced a second station (BBC Two) in 1946, since then the BBC also offers digital services BBC Three BBC Four, BBC News, BBC Parliment, CBBC Channel, CBeebies, BBC HD, BBC Alba and BBC Red Button. To give the BBC competition in 1955 ITV was founded and started up its own broadcasting, unlike BBC ITV was different. ITV was able to broadcast by using advertisers and comercials.

Key companies or industry leaders (a range of examples)
Nowdays there's thousands of Channels avalible to watch with many major companies owning most of them. Some of the main companies in the television are BBC who created British televison, ITV the second major broadcasters, Channel 4, Channel 5 and Sky.

· How individuals can get into the industry, i.e. Qualifications needed etc.
